While checking the MD5 signature on the science application, BOINC found a problem with the MD5 hash and therefore won't open the application. This in case it is a non-genuine version, or your public key got corrupted.

Solutions:

  1. Reset the project; if you're not using anonymous platform applications (app_info.xml), this will throw away all science applications and work and download these anew.
  2. Detach from the project & reattach to it. This will throw away everything in the project's directory and make it anew. This will include removal of any anonymous platform (app_info.xml) applications and work.
