There are various places through which one can suspend BOINC or any task it is running. Just follow the options to see which one's yours:

Simple view

  1. Simple view: Suspend button at the bottom. It will say Resume if used.
  2. Simple view: Project Commands button->Suspend option. It will say Resume if used.
  3. Simple view: Options->Computing preferences, Suspend when computer is on battery is checked and the computer is on battery.
  4. Simple view: Options->Computing preferences, Suspend when computer is in use is checked and the computer is in use.
  5. Simple view: Options->Computing preferences, Compute only between N and N1 has differing values and the time is outside those two values.
  6. Simple view: Options->Computing preferences, Use no more than N GB of disk space has been reached. Free space on the drive, or allow a bigger value for BOINC.

Advanced view

  1. Advanced view: Activity menu, Use CPU and/or GPU is set to Suspend.
  2. Advanced view: Projects tab, the Status column of a project says Project suspended by user, when selecting this project the Commands column has a Resume button.
  3. Advanced view: Tasks tab, the Status column of one or more tasks says Task suspended by user, when selecting this/these tasks the Commands column has a Resume button.
  4. Advanced view: Tasks tab, the Status column of all tasks says Project suspended by user. Go to the Projects tab, select the project that's suspended and click the Resume button.
  5. Advanced view: Tasks tab, the Status column of all tasks says Suspended - user request. Go to Activity menu to put CPU/GPU back on based on preferences.
  6. Advanced view: Tasks tab, the Status column of all tasks says Suspended - an exclusive app is running. You are running an exclusive application, one you set through Exclusive applications. Either wait for it to stop, or else exit that program, or remove it from the list that should suspend BOINC.
  7. Advanced view: Tasks tab, the Status column of all tasks says Suspended - CPU benchmarks in progress. Wait until they have run their course. Shouldn't take more than 3 minutes.
  8. Advanced view: Tasks tab, the Status of all tasks says Suspended - time of day. BOINC is suspended due to time-of-day preferences.
  9. Advanced view: Options->Computing preferences, Daily schedules, Compute only between N and N1 has differing values and the time is outside those two values.
  10. Advanced view: Options->Computing preferences, Daily schedules, an override day and times have been set and it is that day and the time is outside those two values.

Network

For Network suspensions there are options as well:

  1. Simple view: Options->Computing preferences, Transfer files only between N1 and N1 has differing values and the time is outside those two values.
  2. Advanced view: Options->Computing preferences, Daily schedules, Transfer files only between N1 and N1 has differing values and the time is outside those two values.
