Avatars are little pictures shown in the left side bar of the forums. They personalize your nickname.
Their size is 100x100 pixels maximum.
Formats that can be used are JPG and PNG, with a maximum of 42KB.
You add them through the project's forum preferences.
Another option that can be used is the Gravatar. Register to this site with the email address you used for the projects, upload your avatar to them, then in the project's forum preferences page check mark that you use a Gravatar. This will load the new avatar automatically.
