I'm Ed Moran, living in Bellingham, WA after 35 years in San Jose. I've been crunching since the beginning, and now that I have lots of free time I've been looking deeper into Boinc. While I'm learning, I'm putting together a Boinc beginner's portal-directory site, boinc.info, the project list is live if you'd like to take a peek.

I am new to mediawiki, so please bear with me as I learn the ropes.. I'm doing my learning-by-undoing in the misc-general section.

What I'm doing:

Paused - Waiting for replies on to-do page, generally regrouping, restart on June 1st.

First-pass cleanup

Goal: Passable go-live quality, note any revisits

  • copy links and images - Open the original boinc, compare the two entries and rebuild links and insert images.
  • basic formatting - rebuild lists as '*' (hint: paste from bottom up), add cleanup breaks, strong, etc., passable enough to go live. This is formatting only - content is unchanged.
  • test links - broken links list on to-do page making a list.
  • to-do - add link to-do page for revisits - formatting jobs, old tables, etc.
  • notes - open the page's discussion, leave any notes and a 4-tilde tag for timestamp

Progress:

Miscellaneous
General: Done.
How-to: Working on 1st ~20, paused

Notes Finished the first section of Miscellaneous and started the second, now I'm stopped for a bit to wait a bit for things to settle. I'll be going back over my work to catch up on loose ends now that the task is in better focus. So far, I've found:

Lists of steps: All the breaks have been removed, resulting in a hairy ball of concatenated phrases. Hmf. It's a paste-fest of <cr>-*-space, it's quickest if you start from the bottom. Other breaks have disappeared, too, I'm adding
where needed.

404s and images: I'll be going through again (I have the orig's resources link now) and creating a list of broken items. I'll create a list on the to-do page.

Big Pages: GPU v. Projects, other big tables like xml feed parameters, etc., need sexy formatting.

Non-Ansi: Some non-standard apostrophes and hyphens in the text converted into 3-byte utf oddities upon pasting, I replaced them with standard single quotes and hyphens.
